Three quarters of the way through this (mostly) silent film about silent films and it felt like a solid B+ to me, not quite the best picture of the year (as it's been called by several critics groups), but a purely entertaining two hours in the theater. The last couple of scenes, however, really lifted it into the A-/A category. I actually got goosebumps at the very end when ... well, just go see it.
My two favorite actors in the film are in the above picture. The almost-comically handsome Jean Dujardin and Uggie, the Jack Russell Terrier that plays his best friend. It's a truly great dog performance and a crucial role in the film. I, for one, fully support Uggie's Oscar Campaign.
