Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)

I'd seen many of the sequences, possibly all of the musical sequences, before, but never the entire film. I'm glad I waited to see it on the big screen, at the Brattle. It's pure entertainment. Some of the plot devices--the missing tiara, the private detective--could easily exist on The Love Boat but it's a minor complaint. The songs are amazing, my personal favorite being "When Love Goes Wrong," and in between the numbers, the movie is fast moving and funny. Just watching Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe together is a joy, especially the way they walk into a room and then across it.
